Red Kidney Bean Allergy Test

This IgE antibody allergy test uses a blood sample to determine if you are allergic to Kidney Beans.

A legume native to Central America and Mexico, kidney beans are considered extremely healthy. They’re full of fibers, antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. Kidney beans can be toxic if consumed raw or if they aren’t fully cooked. 

Kidney bean allergies are fairly uncommon, but you may be more likely to experience a reaction to kidney beans if you are already allergic to other legumes (such as soybeans or peanuts).

A kidney bean reaction occurs when the body mistakes a protein found within the bean as harmful and the immune system overreacts, releasing antibodies to fight the protein and histamines to protect the body. Too many histamines released is what normally causes inflammation in an allergic reaction. 

Red kidney bean allergy symptoms may include the following:

• Stomach pain
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Wheezing
• Coughing
• Hives

In severe cases, anaphylactic shock may occur.
