Tetanus Antitoxoid Titer Test

This blood titer test is used to assess the amount of antibody response to the tetanus toxoid vaccine. This test is used to help determine if an individual has immunity to tetanus (caused by Clostridium tetani) following immunization.

Determination of vaccine response should be performed at least three weeks following immunization.

Tetanus is a serious disease that is also called lockjaw. It causes very painful muscle tightening and stiffness, typically throughout the body. Tetanus is spread by bacteria that gets in wounds, cuts or scratches. It kills 20 percent of those who contract it.
